Audi 4 Ring Puddle Lights: Stylish DIY Upgrade in Just 15 Minutes

Small upgrades can make a big difference in your car’s appearance. One of the simplest yet most stylish modifications is swapping out the standard LED puddle lights for Audi 4 ring puddle lights.

I recently made the switch, and the entire job took just 15 minutes. The result? A crisp, sharp projection of the Audi 4 rings that looks far more stylish than the originals—while still providing enough light to illuminate the ground when you step out of the car.

Why Upgrade to Audi 4 Ring Puddle Lights?

The stock puddle lights do their job, but they’re plain and lack personality. By contrast, the Audi 4 ring version adds a premium touch with Audi’s iconic logo projected onto the ground. It’s an instant style boost and a simple DIY modification anyone can do.

Installation Time and Tools Needed

  • Time Required: Around 15 minutes (quicker if you’re more flexible than me!)

  • Tools: A flathead screwdriver is all you need.

Step-by-Step Installation Guide

Identifying the Release Tab

Both the stock and replacement lamps have a visible recess on the underside, at the end opposite the electrical connector. This is where you insert a flathead screwdriver to release the retaining tab.

⚠️ Note: On all four of my original lights, the tab was positioned at the hinge side of the door, not at the far end as shown in Audi’s official diagram. This may vary by model, so double-check before applying force.

Removing the Original Lights

Once the tab is released, carefully pull out the light. If you insert the screwdriver on the wrong end, the light won’t come free—even if you release the tab.

Installing the Audi 4 Ring Puddle Lights

After removal, it’s a simple unplug-and-plug-in process. The original lamps appear interchangeable left-to-right, but the Audi 4 ring replacements are clearly marked “L” (Left) and “R” (Right). Install them accordingly, matching the original orientation.

Fitment Notes and Left/Right Orientation

While OEM puddle lights can often be swapped between sides, the Audi 4 ring lights are designed with specific orientation in mind. Make sure to follow the markings to ensure the logo projects correctly on the ground.
